How to Use the OPAC (Online Public Access to Catalog)

  1. Type the complete title of the book or the subject related to the desired information, then click “ENTER” or the “SEARCH” button.
  2. Select the needed material, then click the selected title to know the location of the book.
  3. Copy the call number of the desired material.
  4. Locate it at the shelves of the designated section.

How to Renew an Item Online

  1. Go to: http://ls.mcl.edu.ph/.
  2. Click My Account from the PAC toolbar. Key in your Patron ID Number and PIN. The Account Summary displays.
  3. Click Current Loans from the Account Summary dialog. Current Loans displays with all the items you currently have checked out.
    Note: Current titles with a red Due Date indicate items are overdue.
  4. Find the one(s) you want to renew and select the check box to the left of the title of each item. This will enable the Renew button on the toolbar.
  5. Click Renew.

How to Check Out Books

  1. In the Side Navigation Panel under Circulation, click the Check Out option, or press F2
  2. Type the Name or Student Number of the patron then click enter. The borrower’s information will display.
  3. Type the Accession Number of the book then click “this item” to override the due date and time of the borrowed item. Then click Search.
  4. Put a check mark at the box near the selected item and click “Go” to print out the information of the borrowed item.

How to Borrow Non-Book Materials

CLIR's collection of non-book materials such as DVDs and CDs can be found at the Multimedia Area.

A student may borrow the materials for room use only.

A faculty member may borrow the materials for 3 days.

How to Use eBooks

To access the acquired eBooks of the library, go to http://clir.mcl.edu.ph/Resources/Ebooks.aspx.
Click on the icons of the database that you wish to view.

For EBSCO eBooks:

  1. On the left side of the page, click the link for EBSCO e-book collection.
  2. A page will appear showing all the acquired e-books from EBSCO. You can also view them by categories.
  3. There is a search box on the upper portion of the page. You can type your topic on the box and click the search button.
  4. A list of available e-books will appear for you to choose from. Select the desired title of the e-book and click on it.
  5. There are 2 ways to access the contents of the eBook. You can choose to click on the relevant chapters of the eBook and or the table of contents .

For Britannica Online:

  1. On the” Browse” box click the eBooks and Primary sources link.
  2. A list of eBooks arranged alphabetically by title and or author will appear on the page, for you to choose from.
  3. Just click on the selected title.

For Gale Virtual Reference Library [GVRL]:

  1. A list of all available eBooks categorized by subjects will appear on the page.
  2. Click on the desired title or cover page of the eBook.
  3. Or you can use the search box found on the upper portion of the page. Just type in your desired subject on the box and click the search button [magnifying glass].
  4. You will be taken to the Table of contents. Just click on the desired links.

For Access Engineering:

  1. Type in the desired subject on the search box and click “ENTER” or “GO”.
  2. A list of search results will appear for you to choose from.
  3. Click on the title of the eBook.
  4. An abstract and a table of contents of the eBook will appear on the page.
  5. Choose the desired chapter, to view the article that you need.

How to Use the Ask-a-Librarian Service

  1. Go to CLIR Homepage and look for the chat box at the right side of the screen. The box displays whether the librarian is online or offline. If the librarian is ONLINE, type your name and email followed by your questions.
  2. If the live chat service is offline, please call (049) 832-4000 loc. 4070 to speak to a librarian or send your queries to [email protected].
